• Training centre officially opens at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM
• Brockhoff brokered additional space for Contilia Academy

(Mülheim an der Ruhr, 21.6.2024.) “Neither a school nor a museum, but a place where learning and culture come together,” says Florian Jeserich of his new home at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM.  For the head of Contilia Academy, the new premises are where all the company’s employees work together to develop innovative opportunities for initial, continuing and advanced training—and shape the company’s culture.

Numerous seminars and workshops for Contilia employees have been held at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM since May. The new Contilia Academy location has now also been officially opened. Academy Director Florian Jeserich welcomed around 100 invited guests, including Contilia Managing Director Dr Dirk Albrecht, Mülheim Chief Police Superintendent Mark Fischer and Prof. Dr Oliver Bruder, Chief of Cardiology at St. Marien-Hospital Mülheim and Elisabeth-Krankenhaus Essen. Their talks highlighted the importance of education in many areas of life. Representing SORAVIA, owner of the former 135,000 m² industrial site, were Lorenz Tragatschnig and Wolfgang Kurzacz-Dörflinger. Phillip Mersmann of Brockhoff, exclusively appointed to market the existing building, also attended.

Contilia Academy is Contilia’s umbrella brand for education. Contilia is a healthcare network of around 50 facilities and more than 7,500 employees in the Ruhr region. With the Academy now based at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM, the company has added a central, attractive location for all employees alongside training offered at individual facilities. The site supports not only knowledge transfer but also the development of company culture. Contilia’s presence at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM has grown further: the Contilia Institute for Nursing and Healthcare Professions (IPG) and the Catholic School of Nursing (KKS) had already moved into the same part of the building.

PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM:

Following the renovation of the existing buildings, which provide around 65,000 m² of lettable space, SORAVIA is developing PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM over the coming years on the former Tengelmann site in Mülheim-Speldorf. The future-focused district will combine living, working, education and leisure. SORAVIA exclusively appointed commercial property broker Brockhoff to handle lettings. Together they have already let more than two-thirds of the total space and brought more than 1,000 jobs to the former Tengelmann site.

The modern tenant mix at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM already spans a wide range of industries:

• Contilia Academy has leased a total of 2,000 m² for its opening.
• A technology group has leased 1,330 m² on the 5th floor of the existing building, which totals 65,000 m².
• In July 2023, family-owned DEICHMANN, a leader in the German and European footwear markets, moved into a total of 10,280 m² at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM.
• VKK Standardkessel Service Köthen GmbH took more than 1,800 m² at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM from 1 July 2023.
• St. Marien-Hospital Mülheim an der Ruhr opened a nursing school on around 1,561 m² at the site.
• Hochschule Ruhr West has taken more than 6,100 m² at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM.
• At the end of 2022, Theodor Fliedner Stiftung opened a new facility of around 2,500 m² and a nursing school of around 1,700 m² at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM.
• In 2022, long-established club TSV Viktoria 1898 Mülheim an der Ruhr e.V. opened a fitness and health centre of around 2,000 m² at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM.
• Wolfgang Grob, formerly Tengelmann’s head of security, successfully built his own security company, WSS GmbH, and leased around 1,100 m² in the former Tengelmann headquarters.
• Standardkessel Baumgarte, a subsidiary founded in 1925 with a history of nearly 100 years, relocated from Duisburg to Mülheim and leased around 8,000 m² of office and warehouse space in the well-preserved existing building on the site, fitted out to meet its requirements.
