(Mülheim an der Ruhr, 28.02.2022). The former Tengelmann headquarters has become a hub for office lettings in the Ruhr metropolis. No other property in the Ruhr region has seen more space let than PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM. Within just over a year, well-known tenants have signed leases for more than 38,200 m² (around 59% of the total lettable area) at the 65,000 m² property.

DEICHMANN, a family-owned business and the leading shoe retailer in Germany and Europe, will move into three floors at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM on January 1, 2023, occupying more than 10,280 m² in total. VKK Standardkessel Service Köthen GmbH will establish a presence at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM on July 1, 2023, with more than 1,800 m² of total space.
Dr. Olaf Ihde, Managing Director at DEICHMANN, explains the lease: “The location at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM is advantageous for us for several reasons. We were especially persuaded by the opportunity to rent space suited to our needs close to Essen, the city where our company was founded. The lease is prompted by the campus expansion of our headquarters in Essen, which has just begun as part of our investment in the future. PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM will serve as an excellent temporary solution, accommodating staff during the construction phase. The facilities and transport links are also ideal for us.”
“The remaining available space also offers great opportunities for offices, retail, or storage. Negotiations for the next 5,000 m² are in their final stages,” says Brockhoff Managing Director Julia Winteroth about the marketing status of the former Tengelmann site.

St. Marien Hospital Mülheim an der Ruhr will open a nursing school on the historic industrial site, occupying around 1,561 m².
Hochschule Ruhr West will establish a presence at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM with more than 6,100 m².
The Theodor Fliedner Foundation will open a new operating site of around 2,500 m² and a nursing school with around 1,700 m² on the site.
The long-established TSV Viktoria 1898 Mülheim an der Ruhr e.V. opened the doors of its fitness and health center at PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM on January 1, 2022, occupying around 2,000 m².
Wolfgang Grob, former head of security at Tengelmann, successfully built his own security company, WSS GmbH, and leased around 1,100 m² in the former Tengelmann headquarters for it.
The nearly 100-year-old Standardkessel Baumgarte subgroup (founded in 1925) relocated from Duisburg to Mülheim and leased around 9,000 m² of office and storage space in the well-preserved existing building on the park grounds, which was fitted out to meet the tenant’s requirements.
