Commercial real estate broker Brockhoff lets 1,578 m² of office space in an industrial heritage site
(Essen, 13.03.2023). Digitalization expert RealCore Group GmbH will establish its headquarters at the UNESCO World Heritage Site exactly 30 years after the Zollverein Coking Plant ceased operations in June 1993. The international digitalization company is moving its Essen headquarters into a listed administrative building, which the owner, RAG Montan Immobilien, extensively renovated and modernized five years ago. At the prestigious address “Im Welterbe 2,” RealCore is leasing around 1,578 m² on the ground and 1st floors. Brockhoff OFFICE advised on the lease.
The Zollverein Coking Plant opened in 1961 after five years of construction as one of the most modern facilities in the world. It ceased operations in 1993. Preservation of the entire industrial cultural landscape led to Zollverein Colliery Shafts XII and 1/2/8, as well as the coking plant, being added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. Since 2010, RAG Montan Immobilien has developed the coking plant site into a high-quality office location.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site has made an impressive transformation from a mining area into a modern office and cultural destination. In our view, an IT company moving here is a successful next step for the World Heritage Site and proof of the sustainable revitalization of former industrial areas.”
The entire site was gradually opened to the public and is now a popular destination for walks, jogging, and cycling.
Around 1.5 million tourists now visit the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site every year.
