Solarwatt, a pioneer in solar-powered sector coupling, plans to open another installation site in Germany. The Dresden-based solar company is setting up its own trade business in Bochum, expected to install and commission up to 1,000 new photovoltaic systems per year. The opening is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023. Brockhoff advised on the letting of the 1,900 m² office and warehouse unit. The property is owned by a private investor.

“The fact that companies such as Solarwatt are choosing to locate here proves how attractive the site is,” says Ralf Meyer. The Managing Director of Bochum Wirtschaftsentwicklung adds: “Generating electricity sustainably is essential for the energy supply of the future. Bringing together cutting-edge technology and skilled people in Bochum, at the heart of the densely populated Ruhr region, is a success.”

Solarwatt has a Europe-wide network of 8,500 installers, giving it one of the largest installation capacities in the European solar industry. In 2022, the Saxon medium-sized company sold 66,000 photovoltaic systems in Europe, around two-thirds of them in Germany. Sales are expected to rise to 100,000 systems this year.
